Mercury MA-7 "Aurora 7" Flown Heatshield Fragment

Mercury Aurora 7 was the second manned orbital Mercury mission piloted by Scott Carpenter. Launched May 24th 1962 Carpenter faced some navigation problems and landed 400 km off-target in the Atlantic ocean.

The source of this heatshield fragment was a larger block of heatshield given to VIP's and NASA workers as recognition for their work in the space program.
